| English as a Second Language Program Learning English is an essential requirement for success both at school and for further education, training and employment for students who speak a language other than English as their first language. The English as a Second Language (ESL) program aims to develop ESL students' English language competence and improve their learning outcomes throughout the curriculum to a level where they can fully participate in schooling and independently pursue further education and training. Randwick Girls has four full time ESL teachers who provide targetted curriculum-based English language instruction to ESL students as well as assissting class room teachers in developing teaching programs. Years 7 & 8 The ESL teachers work with class teachers to provide support for ESL students in their classrooms. Years 9 & 10 A parallel English class is taught by an ESL teacher to provide a specific focus on language and grammar skills. Other subjects may also have an ESL teacher to provide support in the classroom.
